Although the North part of the island is Turkish, they class themselves seperate from the mainland. You will learn that they are proud of the history and island that they have called home since 1974. In 2003 the Tyrkish Cypriots made a huge step and decided to open the border to the South. This relax in rules enabled families and old friends to reunite and meet together.
